Thank goodness it's Twenty Twenty-Five! (1/2/25) Maybe the new year will bring some relief from persistent inflation and elevated interest rates. Those twin headaches combined in 2024 to push credit card defaults to their highest level since the 2008 financial crisis. The bottom third of American consumers have been hit hardest, but lenders also reached a grim milestone, writing off a staggering $46 billion in the first nine months of the year.
On the other hand, confidence in the economy is slightly higher following Donald Trump’s reelection, according to Gallup. But a recent survey of Americans gave 2024 a depressingly average score of 6.1 on a scale of 1-10. How do you rate 2024? It’s one of the questions we ask readers in our annual reader forecasting survey.
This is our last call for readers to participate in the survey. We’ll line up your 2025 forecasts against our panel of experts, which will include tastylive’s Tom Sosnoff, Dylan Ratigan and Tony Battista, plus some special guests. Our favorite question asks readers to forecast an unknown unknown—a 2025 black swan-like outlier event. Let your imagination run wild!
Please find a moment to take the brief forecasting survey. We’ll randomly award lucky Luckbox T-shirts to some lucky survey participants.
And on behalf of the Luckbox team and everyone at tastylive ... Happy New Year!
